Public hearings audiotapes, 1977-1978.

This series contains the audiotapes of public hearings held by the Constitution Revision Commission from 1977 to 1978. The public hearings were held throughout the State to discuss changes to the Florida Constitution. The hearings dealt with a variety of issues such as economic development, taxes, health, and education. Each hearing was divided into morning and afternoon sessions. The mornings were devoted to testimony on specific subjects. The afternoon sessions were open to general discussion of the constitution and the revision process.

The 1968 Constitution contains a continuous revision clause providing for the revision of the Constitution within the first ten years after approval, and a revision every twenty years thereafter (Article XI, Section 2). The Constitution specifies a thirty-seven member commission be selected to prepare revisions.
